This intimate, colourful and convivial town is spread out on four main islands at the edge of the ocean, with a charming harbour in the middle. Our two cruise ship quays are located in the heart of the town within easy reach of attractions, activities and shopping.

Experience the Atlantic Ocean Road, an amazing and unique stretch of road that takes you right out to the ocean’s edge. Visit also the historical fishing village at Håholmen island with original wharves and traditional fishermen’s shacks from the 18th and 19th century.

Experience the Atlantic Ocean Road, an amazing and unique stretch of road that takes you right out to the ocean’s edge. Visit the unique Kvernes stave church, dating from approx. 1300 AD. Inside the church you can see a choir screen with crucifix and royal monogram, baroque pulpit and painted acanthus decorations.

Grip island – Unique and unforgettable

The tiny island Grip is located in the ocean 14 km outside of Kristiansund. Once an important fishing village, today a summer vacation paradise with quaint narrow streets, colourful houses and a small café. Guided tour of the island and visit to the picturesque stave church dating back to 1470. You will be charmed by this island!

The highlights of Kristiansund – City tour by bus

Explore the history and architecture of this charming town, built up over the last 50-60 years, due to major devastation during the World War 2. Visit the older parts with buildings dating back to 1700-1800, Kirkelandet Church (1964) with its modern and daring architecture, and pass by or visit sights such as the Clipfish Museum and the Varden View Tower.
