OSLO -  Port of Oslo cares for environmental issues
The Port of Oslo takes care of the environment. The Color Line ferries are now provided with land based electricity, the polluted sediments in the port basin are cleaned up and the latest news is that most of the buses taking the cruise passengers from the piers to the interesting sights in the city of Oslo come with new environmental fuel.  HMK Coach now uses synthetic fuel in all its buses and limousines and has reduced harmful emissions by between 50% and 90 %.  The Port of Oslo is proud to announce this important step towards a more environment-friendly port.

HARDANGER - "SAGA SAPPHIRE” to spend 3 days in  Hardangerfjord
Saga Cruises has an exclusive cruise to Hardangerfjord in 2012, spending three nights and calling at Eidfjord, Lofthus and Odda with Saga Sapphire.  The cruise is called “Melodies of Norway” and is directly linked to the Hardanger Music Festival.  Also included is an exclusive Saga Concert in the Hardanger Hall in Lofthus, accommodating more than 500 passengers.

This is the first time a major cruise line has spent 3 nights in Hardanger. This ties in with a growing trend to explore the ports of Hardanger on prolonged stays in the region.  For instance, Hurtigruten’s Fram called at Rosendal, Ulvik and Eidfjord earlier this spring, spending 2 whole days in the Queen of Fjords.

Hardanger Active offers geocaching for children and adults and photography hikes in Eidfjord
The cruise season started on April 19th in Eidfjord, and with the first AIDAblu arrival on April 28th. Not only were the porpoises (whales) frolicking around in the fjord, but the moose Elga also paid a visit to  Eidfjord Cruiseport on this lovely, sunny day!
